Lord Ganesha’s favourite …….The Divine Modak…..A quick, easy to make and scrumptious Indian sweet, with the mesmerizing zesty flavour of fresh oranges and goodness of coconut.
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes- 16 medium sized
Ingredients and Quantity:
Fresh Orange juice and Organic Honey reduced in a heavy non-stick pan- ½ cup
Condensed milk, sweetened- 100 gm.
Fresh Coconut- grated- 2 cups
Raisins- 1/4th tbsp.
Pistachio nuts, slivered- 02 tsp. (Optional)
FDA approved edible orange colour- as required
Clarified butter /Oil – 1/2 tbsp. / as required
Method:
In a heavy bottomed pan, add the grated coconut on a slow flame, once a little warm add the condensed milk. Let it cook , stirring it with a spatula until it leaves the sides of the pan. Usually takes only 05 minutes
Remove on a clean lightly oiled SS working table. Let it cool. Add the reduced orange juice and a pinch of edible orange colour. Mix it till well combined.
Divide the mixture into equal portions, as per the size required or as per the size of the modak mould and form balls.
Place each ball at a time in lightly oiled Modak Mould , gently unmould the prepared modak. Repeat the process till all the modaks are prepared.
Place on a lightly oiled plate.
Optional-Garnish them with slivered nuts and edible Rose petals.
Offer these scrumptious Modaks to Lord Ganesha.
They may be chilled and served to everyone later.
