Dry Fruit Halwa (Sukhe Mewe Ki Halwa)

Powerhouse of Nutrition… A dose of Clarified butter loaded with dry fruits and mixed nuts

Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 5 to 8 minutes

Makes: 8

Ingredients and quantity:

Dried figs, blanched and pureed – ½ cup

Dried Apricots, pitted, blanched and pureed- 1/4th cup

Full-cream milk, boiled- 2 tbsp.

Dates, finely chopped – 1/4th cup

Raisins, chopped, stems discarded- 1/4th cup

Walnuts, coarsely ground- 1/4th cup

Pistachios, very finely chopped- 20 gm

Almonds, chopped- 30 gm

Cashew nuts, chopped- 30 gm.

Green cardamom powder- 1/4th tsp.

Clarified Butter- 1½ tbsp.

Clarified Butter, melted- as required for greasing

For the Garnish:

Silver leaf (Chandi Ka Warq)- 1 sheet

Mixed nuts, chopped- 2 tbsp.

Edible dried rose petals- 1 tbsp.

Method:   

In a non-stick pan, heat the ghee, lower the flame and add the pureed figs and apricot.

Cook on low flame for 3 minutes.

Add the boiled milk and cook for another 2 minutes.

Ensure that you stir it continuously with the help of a spatula.

Add all the ingredients mentioned from in the dates to green cardamom powder and mix well till well combined.

Turn off the flame and set aside so that it can cool completely.

Serve it warm or at room temperature applied with silver leaf and garnished with chopped mixed nuts and rose petals .

If you wish to make barfi : follow the same process / method.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 5 to 8 minutes

Refrigeration Time: 25 minutes

Makes: 24

 

Put this mixture in a greased SS tray and apply silver leaf and garnish with chopped mixed nuts and rose petals and press it with the help of a greased palette knife.

Cling wrap and refrigerate it for 20 to 25 minutes.

Cut into various designs of your choice with cookie cutters or knife which is greased with clarified ghee.

Chef Tips:

You may also make ladoos or pops of a smaller size for children.
