Coffee and Walnut Mousse

Enjoy this Christmas with your loved ones….. by preparing and consuming this melt in mouth, smooth like silk dessert …Coffee mousse with a crunch of walnut.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Cooking Time: 02 minutes

Chilling Time in Refrigerator: 1 ½ hours

Makes: 4 jars medium sized

Ingredients and Quantity:

Expresso, cooled- 80 ml.

Gelatin- 02 tsp.

Eggs, separated- 02 nos.

Sugar- 60 gm.

Whipping cream- ½ cup

Walnut kernels, coarsely ground- 02 tbsp.

For Preparing the Jar:

Bitter chocolate, melted- ½ cup

For the Garnish:

Walnut kernels ,halved, lightly toasted- 02 tbsp.

Fresh berries- 02 tbsp. as per seasonal availability

Fresh mint leaves- 04 leaves

For the sprinkling:

Coffee powder- ½ tsp.

For the drizzling:

Organic honey – 02 tbsp.

Coffee Liqueur – ¼ th cup

 Method:

In a glass jar. pour the melted chocolate. Place the jars in the refrigerator.

In a glass bowl add the expresso to this add the gelatin. Mix.

Place it in the microwave for 2 minutes so that the gelatin dissolves completely.

In another whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks are formed.

Place it in the refrigerator.

In a bowl whisk the egg yolks and sugar for 4 to 5 minutes, preferably use a electric whisk. To this add the dissolved gelatin.

Whip the cream and fold it the prepared mixture.

Now with the help of a spatula fold in the whisked egg whites and coarsely ground walnut. Remove the glass jar from the refrigerator. Pour the coffee mixture/ mousse in it. Let it chill in the refrigerator for 1 ½ hours.

Just before service, garnish with broken / halved walnuts, fresh berries and mint leaves.

Serve chilled drizzled with organic honey ,coffee liqueur and sprinkled with coffee powder.
