Roasted Cereal Chivda

Roasted Cereal Chivda is something healthy to snack on when you feel like Binging but are scared to add extra calories. This Tasty Snack will be a good companion for your evening Tea.

Ingredients and Quantity

  • Oats, dry roasted - 1/4th cup
  • Puffed Rice, dry roasted- 1/4th cup
  • Pressed rice, dry roasted- 1/4th cup
  • Cornflakes, dry roasted- 1/4th cup
  • Puffed Quinoa, dry roasted- 1/4th cup
  • Brown rice Krispies, dry roasted- 1/4th tsp.
  • Roasted Chana dal- ½ tbsp.
  • Peanuts, dry roasted- 1/4th tbsp. (Optional)
  • Black Chana, soaked, pressed and dry roasted-1/2 tbsp.
  • Turmeric powder- 1/4th tsp.
  • Asafoetida- a pinch
  • Extra Virgin Olive oil- 10 ml.
  • Black cumin- 1/4th tsp.
  • Curry Leaves-01 sprig.
  • Salt- to taste

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan add olive oil, heat it add asafetida, add cumin seeds, let them crackle, add curry leaves(optional), add turmeric powder ensuring that it does not burn, now add dry roasted oats, puffed rice, pressed rice ,cornflakes, puffed quinoa and brown rice krispes.
  2. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add chana dal, peanuts(optional) and black chana.
  4. Add salt to taste.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Let it cool.
  7. Serve.
  8. If not consumed immediately, store in an airthight container.

Chef Tips

  1. You may replace peanuts with walnuts.
  2. You may add raisins.
  3. If you are dry roasting ingredients from Oats to peanuts, has to be done on a medium flame. Also the cooking time mentioned above would be from 05 minutes to 20-25 minutes.
